Behavioral health is about how our beliefs, our feelings, and actions affects our physical health. Things that happened to us in the past may affect how we react to situations in our lives today.
There is an important study – “Adverse Childhood Experiences” that shows that we learn behaviors that are related to adverse experiences that are harmful to our well-being.
Every person chooses to behave in a way determined by what they believe, how they learned to behave and how it makes them feel. Why do we struggle with our weight, taking the medications we need, or following doctors’ orders?
Counseling can help with:
- Thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that affect physical health and risk taking behavior
- Working with your doctors to enhance treatment effectiveness
